10 easy ways to be green:

1. Old newspapers & magazines can be sold; used wrapping papers can line kitchen shelves or wrap books.

2. Wash bottles & jars after use for storing pins, clips & nails.

3. Make sure taps don't drip - did you know that a dripping tap can waste 9 litres a minute?

4. A leaking toilet wastes 200,000 litres in 6 months!

5. Wash dishes with a basin of water instead of under a running tap.

6. Return all junk mail.

7. Don't pour paint or bleach into the drainage system, it can pollute the rivers and seas and cause the death of thousands of fish and other marine life.

8. Plant a tree.

9. Use cloth towels in the kitchen instead of paper towels.

10. Check if your fridge is set too cold and many are 5% colder than they need to be - then it's using 25% more electricity.
